Year-End Holidays Bring Increased Vehicle Traffic on the Roads of Gjirokastër

The year-end holidays have led to a significant increase in vehicle traffic in the city of Gjirokastër. The return of emigrants from Greece has notably intensified traffic along the Gjirokastër–Kakavijë road.

According to the Border Police of Gjirokastër, over the past 24 hours 7,472 people have crossed the Kakavijë Border Crossing in both directions—5,300 entering and 2,172 exiting the country. During the same period, 2,340 vehicles were recorded, with 1,607 entering and 733 exiting.

Traffic has also increased on the city’s internal roads during the holiday period. The Road Police have increased their presence on national and secondary roads in an effort to prevent accidents.
