Heart attacks in youth people have become a worrying phenomenon for doctors.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, cardiologist Agron Meshi blames lifestyle as a key factor for the increase in cases.

“There were not many cases of the 40-year-old age, and now this happens for many reasons, the part of stress, smoking, diabetes is very widespread, if we do 10 patients, half are with diabetes. Then are malnutrition, arterial hypertension”, says the cardiologist.

Doctors say that patients often underestimate the signs of a heart attack and come to the hospital late.

“They are often late, within 60 minutes would be the best time. Chest pain is the first, this is accompanied by numbness of the left or right arm, tightness in the throat”, says the doctor.

Strenuous physical activity can be fatal in some cases, so doctors recommend that young people do not skip the consultation with the cardiologist before starting the gym.

According to doctors, walking without interruption at a fast pace for a distance of 5 kilometers a day, is the best therapy for a healthy heart.
