47 thousand employees in Albania work over 48 hours a week.
This number represented 19% of all employees in Albania, who work overtime i.e., more than the 40 hours officially prescribed by the Work Code.
For these individuals, a normal work day lasts 10 hours in cases when they have 2 days a week off, and 8-9 hours when they only have 1 day off.
These data show that during the pandemic year, working overtime affected fewer employees, whereas after the pandemic the number went back to the usual yearly average.
INSTAT has also noted that overtime work usually affects the male population more than the female ones, as this category is usually employed in sectors like construction, agriculture, family business, or freelance professions.
On the other hand, official stats show that more than half of employees in Albania work 40-48 hours a week, whereas the remainder works part-time from 15-39 hours a week.
