Today’s race during the second round of voting for the new mayors of North Macedonia, will include 10 women candidates.
In addition, the woman candidate for the separate municipality of Skopje, is an independent candidate, Danella Arsovska.
Parties that will have women running head-to-head in the second voting round of the local elections are:
LSDM – 2 candidates
DOM – 2 candidates
BDI – 1 candidate
VMRO DPMNE – 1 candidate
My motherland Macedonia – 1 candidate
Integra – 1 candidate
Third Macedonian Era – 1 candidate
The independent candidate for the commune of Skopje.
During the first round of voting, which took place exactly 4 weeks ago, there were less than 10% women entering the race for mayor. From a total of 301 candidates, only 25 were women.
