Vjosa River has overflowed its banks after days of heavy rainfall.

The water levels have gone way past 8 meters, causing the urgent evacuation of 11 families.

The situation escalated further after midnight, at around 3:30 a.m. when the high streamflow broke the dam.

Civil emergency teams have intervened and are closely monitoring the entire area as the currents continue to approach at an alarming rate.
