The State Police is executing on Tuesday an order released by the Special Anti-Corruption Court in connection to the waste incinerator affair.
The request was initially sent out by SPAK.
Reportedly, 12 arrest warrants were issued after getting the green light from the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime.
High-ranking officials and businessmen tied to the Tirana and Fier waste incinerators are supposedly among the arrested.
Former environment minister Lefter Koka was arrested in December over abuses in the Elbasan waste incinerator.
Allegedly Koka received €3,6 million from the two companies that won the tender to build the incinerator.
SPAK is also investigating irregularities with two other incinerators, Tirana and Fier.
According to an investigation led by SPAK, Albtek Energy and Integrated Technology Services paid large sums to several companies, which did not get any work done .
Stela Gugallja’s Albtek Energy paid €2.950.000, while Klodian Zoto’s Integrated Technology Services paid €735.000.
An international arrest warrant was issued against Zoto and Gugallja for their involvement in the Elbasan waste incinerator.
