Albanian Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro announced that Albania has welcomed 8.3 million tourists from January to September, surpassing the total figures for 2022 and solidifying itself as the best year for tourism.

In a social media post, the Minister shared an informative video illustrating the year-over-year progression of tourist flows, highlighting the consistent increase in tourists choosing Albania.

Kumbaro emphasized that the latest data on tourist flows indicates that 1.1 million foreign visitors chose to explore the country in September alone.

According to statistics provided by Kumbaro, Albania saw the following foreign tourist numbers in previous years: 3.4 million in 2013; 3.6 million in 2014; 4.1 million in 2015; 4.7 million in 2016; and 5.1 million in 2017.

The upward trend in the number of foreign tourists continued with 5.9 million visitors in 2018 and 6.4 million in 2019.

An exception was the year 2020 when Albania welcomed only 2.6 million foreign visitors due to the pandemic.

The remarkable increase in tourist numbers resumed in 2021 with 5.6 million visitors, followed by 7.5 million in 2022, and for the period from January to September 2023, a record-breaking 8.3 million foreign visitors have explored the country.
