The Ethnographic Museum in Elbasan is one of the most visited spots by local and foreign tourists.

30 thousand tourists visited Elbasan in 10 months of 2024, and the most visited point remains the museum. The historical and ethnographic values ​​exhibited in its exhibits attract the attention of local and foreign visitors.

Tourists from different countries of the world describe the visit to the Ethnographic Museum as impressive.

“It is a beautiful building. The way it is built, but also the size of the rooms, the structure. I heard that it is about an old house. This attracted us to understand more about the tradition of your country”, says a tourist.

“I am from Germany. It’s my first time here in your city. I find this old building interesting. I like the way it is furnished”, says another.

The leaders of the tourist guides point out that tourists are curious to visit the city of Elbasan, since apart from the history, the cuisine is another asset. While the director of the museum says that autumn has brought back tourists to Elbasan from all over Europe.

“Elbasan is almost a part of every tour, the part of the castle is more or less interesting, how people live inside the castle. Other things are also normal, we should not forget the kitchen”, says Xhon Ahmeti, tourist guide.

“There are curious tourists, tourists who want to know the tradition, the city and tourists who are looking for the natural resources of the city and municipality of Elbasan. The trend is growing, from many countries and from all over Europe”, says Klinton Kapaj, director of the Ethnographic Museum.

The Ethnographic Museum of Elbasan was created in 1986 and it presents about 600 original objects. The clothes belong to the 19th century, while the furniture is even earlier.
