37.8% of the Albanian population say they have been infected with COVID-19. Converted to actual numbers, that means that nearly 830.000 citizens say they have been exposed to and contracted the deadly virus.
These were the results gathered by a poll conducted during the month of September, by Euronews Albania’s weekly, Barometer and surveying agency MRB, which were used to build a real-time map of the most affected areas.
The majority of citizens who said they’d experienced a COVID infection (29.3%) said that they had contracted the virus sometime in September 2020 – December 2020.
In Tirana, 42.8% of citizens declared that they had been infected with the coronavirus. On a regional scale, the highest number of infections was observed in Central Albania.

Of those infected, 60% said they experienced a few mild symptoms, whereas 17% said they’d experienced severe forms of the virus and serious accompanying symptoms.
When asked whether someone in their immediate family, including first cousins, had passed away due to a COVID infection, 7.9% answered yes.
According to data published by the Ministry of Health, since the outbreak of the pandemic in our country, there has been a total of 2.855 fatalities attributed to COVID-19.
The poll conducted by Euronews Albania’s Barometer in collaboration with surveying agency, MRB, gathered data by conducting face-to-face interviews with 1.000 citizens from rural and urban areas in the country, from September 21 – October 3.
