A group of 50 people were hiking in the mountain range, rising above the lake of Ujman, in the area of Zubin Potok, which is mainly populated by Serbian minorities, when two individuals opened fire in their direction.

According to the organizers of the trip, the police had been previously notified about the hike, but nonetheless, the group was faced with the two perpetrators firing gunshots in their vicinity.

After the incident, the group changed the course of their hike, while denouncing the act to the police shortly after. Fortunately, this incident didn’t hurt anyone.

President Vjosa Osmani has also reacted regarding this matter asking law enforcement authorities to clarify the circumstances as soon as possible as according to her, the aim of this was the spread of fear and feeling of insecurity in that part of the country.

“I condemn the armed attack against the group of young people from Kosova Mountain Club in the mountains near Zubin Potok. Every citizen of the Republic of Kosovo must feel free and safe during their presence in any given part of the territory of Kosovo.

I invite law enforcement and criminal investigative authorities to as soon as possible, discover and punish the authors of this criminal act that aims to spread fear and the feeling of insecurity in that part of our country,” wrote Vjosa Osmani, on her Facebook account.
