On November 20, 1972, the Congress for the Standardization of the Albanian Language convened. Over the course of its proceedings until November 25, 87 delegates from Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Montenegro participated in this significant event.

Representing the realms of Albanian science, education, and culture were distinguished individuals, including Arbëresh from Italy.

Notable figures among the delegates were Aleks Buda, Androkli Kostallari, Bedri Dedja, Dhimitër Shuteriqi, Eqrem Çabej, Idriz Ajeti, and Josif Ferrari.

The representation from Kosovo included academic Rexhep Qosja, who regarded the congress as the paramount event in the history of Albanian culture.

The primary objective of the Congress was to establish principles and key guidelines for formulating spelling rules, ultimately leading to the adoption of a unified literary language.

In this regard, the Congress served as the culmination of the efforts of the Albanian Renaissance and the Albanian Literary Commission.
