54 Afghan citizens were flown to the United States after being temporarily sheltered in Kosovo, confirmed the country’s interior ministry.
“We had the pleasure to welcome our friends here and show them the great hospitality that our country has to offer. We are constantly working with our partner, the Embassy of the United States, so that migrants staying at camp Lydia may leave Kosovo and begin a new life. We wish them all the best possible and hope to hear from them again”, read a statement from the ministry.
In total, 700 Afghans fleeing Taliban rule were sheltered in Kosovo.
Meanwhile, none of the Afghan citizens taken in by Albania a few months ago have been sent to the US or other European countries.
