After numerous physical alterations and incidents that took place during Saturday’s protest at DP’s headquarters, the police has begun taking some of the demonstrators into custody.

The Ombudsman has published a memo detailing the preliminary numbers of those arrested by police in connection to yesterday’s protest as well as other casualties.

In a public announcement, the Ombudsman declared that a total of 59 citizens have been taken into custody, 8 of whom were minors.

Saturday’s protest was also a cause of several injuries due to the repetitive acts of violence coming from both inside of the party headquarters as well as demonstrators outside.

As a result, 7 citizens were taken to hospital, 1 of whom was an officer of the police and 3 were women.

In the Ombudsman’s public reaction, it states that the police used large amounts of tear gas, which affected not only citizens participating in the protest, but regular pedestriana as well.
