Albania commemorates the 77th anniversary of its liberation from Nazi-Fascist occupation. As per tradition, heads of state paid their tributes at the National Martyrs Cemetery.
Among the high-level officials that attended the ceremony were President Ilir Meta, Prime Minister Edi Rama, and the Speaker of the Assembly Lindita Nikolla.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha paid homages on Sunday.
War veterans and families of those fallen in World War II also attended the ceremony at the Martyrs Cemetary.
Supporters of Albania’s former dictator Enver Hoxha also showed up at the ceremony holding banners hailing his figure.
