8 citizens have been arrested in Durres, after being accused of tender fraud in the city’s municipality.
SPAK has uncovered that the tender in question, was executed in May-June 2020, with the amount of 7 083 000 LEK (before VAT tax), where 6 officials in the city hall have abused their office, by favoring companies ‘R&R Group’ and Klosi ‘-R Company’ in the tender race.
Sources near Euronews Albania have also pointed to a fire-extinguishing vehicle that has been purchased but not begun operating yet, which has prompted prosecutors to launch further investigations.
The Police have also arrested 3 members of the Bid Evaluating Commission at the Municipality of Durres, namely P.B., Gj.M., I.M; 3 officials AV., M.L, A.T as well as 2 administrators of the favored companies, R.S and A.B. The latter are being accused of fabricating important documents.
In an official statement released a few days ago, SPAK states that during the year a total of 72 cases are being investigated over tender fraud.
