Minister of health Ogerta Manastirliu dismissed accusations coming from critics that the government has failed to handle the pandemic and that low testing has worsened the crisis, by saying that the country has over 90,000 tests at its disposal.
In a press release, minister Manastirliu reportedly said the strategy prescribed by experts has been successful so far.
The minister of health was visiting the Public Health Institute to as it had just installed a new testing device, which according to Manastirliu “will increase the capacity for testing”.
“Over 90,000 tests are available at the Public Health Institute and the strengthening of lab capacities will continue, be that through testing, lab kits or also from new devices which will empower this laboratory to overcome what might potentially occur in the future”, declared the minister/
“What’s important is that we have a plan, we have a strategy which seeks to raise the capacity of the Public Health Institute. We also have a long-term plan in relation with testing, tracing and epidemiological investigation”, added Manastirliu.
Soon the second laboratory is expected to open its doors for molecular testing, while Manastirliu reached out to citizens for collaboration.
Earlier on, the opposition accused the government for failing to handle to pandemic, while blaming the low number of tests as a factor which has caused a greater spread of the virus.
