For days now, citizens going to the store to buy bread are being met with the message: “Your vote counts, just as much as housework”.
Printed on the packaging of the bread, this message aims to raise awareness amongst Albanian women and girls, regarding the importance of their involvement in the voting process.
“We thought, why not, let’s enter the homes of Albanian families and try to motivate women and girls to participate in the voting process. The title itself says ‘Your vote counts just as much as housework,” said a correspondent from the Organization ‘Tirana Art’.
This initiative isn’t only taking place in Tirana but in districts all around the country.
“I am surprised by the city of Librazhd, where the initiative has been embraced not only by women and girls but by men also,” says the representative of ‘Tirana Art’.
In the April 25th elections, it is expected that 49.5% of voters will be women and girls.
“I call on all Albanian women and girls to vote, it is a pity not to vote,” said an elderly woman.
“Yes, we will vote. Why not vote? All women and girls should vote for the ones they prefer,” stated another woman for Euronews Albania.
