March is considered the month with the highest mortality rate in our country. Compared to the same period one year ago, the number of deaths doubled.

According to preliminary data from the office of civil status, March 2021 marked a total of 3900 fatalities in our country. In February 2021, around 3500 deaths were registered whereas in January, 2800.

Only in the first trimester of this year, a total of 10.200 fatalities were recorded, which shows an increase by 70%, compared to the same period last year. This was the most fatal trimester, at least since the year 1990, when the data first started to be recorded.

The most tragic month, in terms of the number of fatalities until now has been December with 4,167 fatalities, which means double (98%) the amount of the same period in the previous year.

In 12 months, from April 2020 to March 2021, our country has registered a total of around 32.200 fatalities, compared to 21.700 in the previous year.
