President Ilir Meta has overturned another law for review in Parliament. This time, it concerns a law on mandatory security in the transportation sector.

The president’s main argument is related to the fact that according to him, it doesn’t guarantee the protection of citizens’ life.

In addition, the president also stated that with the current register on motion vehicles, the system bonus-malus isn’t being executed and it is left to the hands of insurance companies.

“After carefully looking over the contents of this article section, the President of the Republic evaluates that the Albanian Parliament, despite what is declared in the parliamentary practice, hasn’t been able to give this problem a solution, as the contents of the disposition of article 8, don’t guarantee the execution in practice and long-term of the bonus-malus system,” claimed the President.

He also emphasized that “if this disposition will stand according to the contents approved by Parliament, then this new system (bonus-malus), won’t be executable, but will remain in the hands of insurance companies, which in turn, means that this article remains in force only as a declarative disposition”.
