President Ilir Meta declared today that several people with criminal records, after being equipped with IDs and passports are presenting themselves in several municipalities in Korça, stealing other people’s identities.

“In the district county of Korça, in various municipalities inhabited mainly by communities of Macedonian minorities, citizens with criminal records wanted by the international police, were equipped with identity documents and passports from local authorities there, not with their own records but with the identities of other people that don’t have any problems with the law, thus stealing their identity,” said the head of state, during a press conference.

“Foreign as well as Albanian citizens, have gotten identity documents issued by the Albanian civil status offices, stealing the identity of Albanian citizens with Macedonian nationalities, without their knowledge. These people have continued to follow procedures in North Macedonia and have procured identity documents there as well,” he added.

He also added that “whoever wants to alter or meddle with the vote will go to jail”.

Meta also raised allegations against SP, saying that they are planning to intervene in the administrative division no. 10, where voting is supposed to be electronic.

The President also emphasized that during the April 25 elections, he will be in the city of Vlora, in order to inspect the process of vote counting.

The head of state also commented on the invitation of PM Edi Rama in order to collaborate after the April 25 elections with the leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha.

“Rama’s invitation was sincere, just like May 17th’s. It would be legitimate and ethical for citizens to know before voting, if there will be a collation DP-SP, or SMI-SP, let them say it now, but they should be sure that Boiken will defeat them, and alone,” said Meta.
