The head of the EU delegation to Albania, Luigi Soreca, as well the German and French ambassadors, Peter Zingraf and Elisabeth Barsacq, will visit today Elbasan where they will meet with candidates of the main political parties in the country.
It has been learned that the diplomats will meet Taulant Balla from the Socialist Party, Gazmend Bardhi from the Democratic Party, and the candidate of “Nisma Thurje” in the district Rudina Hajdari.
In an official statement released by the press office of the EU, they confirm that a meeting with the candidate of the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) will not take place, but did not provide a reason.
SMI also did not clarify why a meeting with the diplomats will not be available.
Earlier during the campaign, the US Ambassador Yuri Kim also visited Elbasan where she urged for “clean candidates”, an appeal reiterated also by Italian Ambassador Fabrizio Bucci.
