The serious crime took place this afternoon in ‘Dine Hoxha’ mosque at rr. Kavaja street, in Tirana.

One person attacked 5 others inside the headquarters of the mosque.

Police have arrived in the scene and neutralized the attacker, who is now under arrest.

“Around 14:30 this afternoon, in Kavaja street, a citizen has entered the headquarters of a religious building (mosque) and under unclear circumstances attacked 5 other citizens with a knife. Thanks to the professional and immediate reaction of Police Forces, he has been neutralized. The suspect, Rudolf Nikolli, 34 years old, from Burrel is now under arrest and being escorted to Tirana’s Police Local Directory for further investigation,” announced the police.

According to authorities, those injured have been immediately rushed to hospital and are currently at a stabilized state.

Euronews Albania’s journalist, Merin Maçi reports that believers were performing religious rituals inside the mosque, when they were attacked by the 34-year-old.
