Italian media say a 28-year-old Albanian man, recently arrested in southern Italy, may have links to the 2016 terrorist attack in Nice, France.

LaPresse news agency said police have arrested a suspect identified as Endri Elezi on the outskirts of Naples. He was declared wanted in Europe following an arrest warrant issued by France.

French authorities suspect Elezi provided weapons to terrorist Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, a Tunisian resident in France.

The July 14, 2016 attack that killed 86 citizens and injured another 500, rocked Europe at the time, as one of the most shocking events, which was linked to the Islamic State in Syria.
