The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta has held a meeting with the ambassadors of the US and EU in our county, where the core of the conversation was focused on the electoral process.
Through an announcement shared on social media, Meta said that he has thanked the diplomatic body for the interest they have shown in terms of working towards free and fair elections on April 25th.
According to an announcement, the head of the county has made a request for additional international monitoring in the cities of Durres, Elbasan and Vlora, because these counties according to him, have exhibited problems in past elections, where citizens have suffered the pression of “organized crime”.
The president has also asked the State Police and judicial institutions to display a professional conduct during the electoral process. He emphasized that the prevention of any tentative that aims the repetition of electoral crimes, is vitally important.
“Whoever provokes artificial tension, by aiming to discourage the massive voting process or wants to meddle with the citizens’ vote, should receive an immediate and irrevocable response from forces of the law,” said the announcement.
Despite the incidents reported until now, the head of state said that Sunday will be a day for celebration and democracy.
“Sunday will be a day for celebration for all Albanians because in these elections they will have the possibility to choose, the party, as well as the candidate their, prefer,” said Meta.
