The State Election Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi said during a press conference on Saturday that voting will start at 7 AM while every violation on this schedule will be sanctioned with a fine.

Celibashi asserted that all measures have been taken for a safe process and guarantee voter secrecy.

The head of CEC brought back to the attention of the public how voting will unfold at these elections and said that the electronic pilot voting project that will be applied at the Administrative Unit 10 of the capital is “100% safe”.

“In every polling place, only one ballot paper is to be utilized containing the names of political parties, coalitions, and candidates”.

In order for the vote to be considered valid it has to follow one of the three guidelines:

  • Choosing the political subject and one of the candidates, or;
  • Choosing the political subject only, or;
  • Choosing the candidate and the vote will also go to the party that the candidate is running for.

“The pilot project at the Administrative Unit 10 in Tirana is 100% safe, voter secrecy is guaranteed, therefore I would like to assure voters from this unit that the process is safer than the one with the ballot papers”, concluded Celibashi.

1863 candidates are running under the banners of 10 political subjects and 2 coalitions.
