In a statement for the press from the city of Durres, the US ambassador to Albania, Yuri Kim and EU ambassador, Luigi Soreca called on prosecutors and law enforcement authorities to investigate the incidents that took place during the voting process.

“I know that there have been some incidents that have been reported and it’s now up to, it’s the responsibility of authorities to investigate and as you know, we have called very clearly for prosecutors and other law enforcement to pursue these cases to the end,” stated ambassador Kim.

“The voting process is proceeding smoothly, despite a few incidents that are taking care of and will be, and must be followed up by the relevant authorities and for the three hours that are left, we invite citizens to come out and vote,” said ambassador Luigi Soreca.

Ambassadors also asked from citizens and political leaders to patiently wait for the result and to accept the verdict of the people.

“Now it is the turn of candidates and MPs and leaders to wait patiently for the results and to wait for the verdict of the people,” said ambassador Kim.

“After the voting process, wait patiently for the results and as for the political leaders, have patience as you wait for the results and respect the outcome. You have to vote for the future of the European Union,” said ambassador Soreca.
