Sources told Euronews Albania that on Monday the Socialist Party will rollout procedures for the impeachment of the President of the Republic Ilir Meta.
In a status posted on Twitter, the head of the SP’s parliamentary group said that as soon as all votes are counted, the plan is to “prepare documentation for the retirement of President Meta”.
“No one anticipated that he would make a retirement speech. But let’s just wait for the counting process to conclude and we’ll prepare the paperwork for his retirement”, tweeted Balla.
Shortly after, the spokesperson of president Tedi Blushi warned that if Balla dares to come near the president he will get “the response that he deserves”.
Earlier during the day, President Ilir Meta stressed that he will remain president until 2022 when his term ends, and then he plans to take over the leadership of the Socialist Movement for Integration.
