The Foreign Ministers of the G7 countries, and the EU High Representative Josep Borrell, met in London where they expressed their support to open membership talks with Albania and North Macedonia.
The stance of the 7 chiefs of diplomacy from the world’s largest economies was conveyed through a joint statement, where they urged efforts for further progress as well as improvement of regional cooperation.
Among other issues, the foreign affairs ministers unanimously rejected attempts to change the Balkan borders.
“Any speculation to change borders along ethnic lines does not constitute to a solution to the challenges ahead in the region”, the ministers said, while stating that the move undermines regional security.
