Ministers of Foreign Affairs from member countries of the European Union will be meeting on Monday to discuss about the most current issues pertaining to the Western Balkans.
The meeting will be held in the EU council in Brussels on May 10th. The EU Council is expected to present the current situation during this meeting and settle on the list of future ambitions for the region.
High Officials of the EU have during the past few days, conducted meetings with leaders of the countries of the Western Balkans, with the focus of the discussions being, the process of integration into the EU as well as the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
The meeting of EU MFAs comes at a time, when the media has been bombarded with the publication of the leaked ‘’non-paper’’ documents, stirring up a lot of backlash. This document speaks on of a border adjustment as a solution for the issues of Kosovo and Bosnia Hercegovina.
Meanwhile, when it comes to the process of integration to the EU, Albania and North Macedonia are both anticipating the settlement of the date of their first Intergovernmental Conference (IGC). While Albania has received positive signals, North Macedonia, which has been facing Bulgaria’s veto, could be faced with a postponement of its accession negotiation process with the EU.
