During a meeting organized by representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, PM Edi Rama declared that the protection of the territory will be the priority of the work plan of the State Police, with the aim as he said, to institute absolute control over the entire territory.

While emphasizing that the State Police has all the capacity to become a shield for Albania, by covering the entire territory through systematic check-ups, the head of state said that “we shouldn’t only have zero tolerance for building without a permit, but also those that have received a permit but are built in an abusive manner”.

“In the case of a wall or roof in a remote area, they are able to find a policeman to ask for accountability. But, when it comes to flagrant abuses in touristic areas at the side of the road from Velipoja to Ksmail, in those cases, surprisingly you can’t find that same zealous policeman. The police have a hold of all the capacities it needs to become a shield for the republic of Albania, in regards to this crime that has been sanctioned as such in all of our laws. There won’t be any tolerance for interventions in touristic areas. Our touristic areas are a basis for our future and we can’t accept the inertia of a control system that can’t be compared to 6-7 years ago, but it is nonetheless still unacceptable,” said the Head of State.
