The month of May brought together a myriad of religious celebrations in Albania. We celebrated Catholic and Orthodox Easter, followed by Eid al-Fitr and today the southern regions of Albania are celebrating the festival of the Bektashi order in the khanqah of Ali Postivani.
Despite the remote roads, thousands of believers headed to the uppermost peak of region in Permet, where the object of cult was built on.
For Bektashi order believers, this day means more hope and luck for the future.
“We have come from Korca in order to celebrate in this holy place. We have faith in the khanqah of Ali Postivani,” said a believer for Euronews Albania’s correspondent.
“I wish all believers happiness as well as to Baba Hekurani, on the occasion of this holy day,” said another adherent to this faith.
“The best of wishes for the entire of humanity. May you have good health and prosperity on this marked day,” said another believer.
“All faiths have come here, Catholics, Orthodox, Muslims. I have been here with Baba Hekuran. Everyone is happy with this holy khanqah and with this place. I send good wishes to all believers and may you have prosperity, all of you,” said Eqerem Ali Muhib.
Thousands Bektashi order believers went to the Ali Postivani khanaqah, with many of them sacrificing livestock, distributing gifts to the poor as well as celebrating amid sounds of traditional music.
This is the second most important day for the Bektashi order, after the August 20th pilgrimage to the mountain of Tomorri.
