The lawsuit for ‘public slandering’ that was forewarned by the former PM Sali Berisha against the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken is being discussed in tonight’s panel on ‘Ilva Now’.
Analyst Andi Bushati stated that from a judicial point of view, we can’t really be sure how this battle will go. He added that Berisha attested that in this whole story, he wants to hold the burden by himself, without unloading it onto the Democratic Party.
This stance, according to the Bushati shows two main aspects: “I don’t know if it’s possible or if it is a game in order to gain some time, that I don’t know. From a political point of view, Berisha’s stance, seems like the stance of a man that wants to hold a personal burden and not unload it onto his party, his group and successor, Lulzim Basha. Is he doing this in the name of protecting his party, or is he doing it because he feels himself abandoned by his party, this remains to be seen,” said Bushati.
According to him, in Berisha’s political rhetoric, there was a kind of withdrawal, which raises doubts that he might’ve been abandoned by the Democratic Party.
“He was pharmaceutically correct, something that is not typical of Berisha. We know Berisha, the Berisha of ’97, who was ready to point the gun at the US. Therefore, today in his stance, today’s Berisha isn’t like we have seen him, even if we compare him to September ’98, when all US envoys were here and he still wouldn’t give up. There’s a definite withdrawal, but is this withdrawal because he feels abandoned by DP, this remains to be seen,” said Bushati.
