World Bank delegation assesses the performance of the Bank of Albania

The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko received the World Bank delegation today, through a meeting in Tirana, where the introduction of its permanent representative in our country, Emanuel Salinas also took place.

The news was announced by the Bank of Albania through a declaration shared with the press. According to their statement, Mr. Salinas is expected to come into office in Albania starting from July 1st.

He will be the successor of the former official, Maryam Salim, who is currently serving the end of her 4-year term as permanent representative of the World Bank in Albania.

The governor of our Central Bank, Gent Sejko made a presentation of the current economic landscape in our country, with a focus on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in our local economy, while also emphasizing that the measures, taken at the right time in Albania were able to help us retain financial stability.

The Bank of Albania also added that the World Bank representatives gave a positive assessment regarding the policies undertaken as a response to the situation created by COVID-19, as well as in regards to the contribution given towards reducing problematic loans.

“The matter valued most positively, were the policies implemented by the Bank of Albania with the aim of retaining financial stability in our country as well as the health of our banks, despite the many challenges and difficulties Albania was faced with during the pandemic and earlier,” stated the notice of the Bank of Albania.
