Following a normative act passed in a government meeting on Wednesday, Albania will not purchase more Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines.
The government’s decision holds the signature of deputy prime minister Erion Braçe, and due to confidentiality conditions, the number of doses set to be delivered, including the price they were bought for, remains unknown.
The cost for the purchase of the vaccines will be covered by the reserve fund of the state budget for 2021.
Last Friday, a batch of 25,000 Sputnik jabs arrived in Albania as the country continues with the massive vaccination program.
According to the health minister, Ogerta Manastirliu, more than 936,000 vaccine doses have been delivered so far.
