MPs Myslim Murrizi and Rudina Hajdari are aware that the electoral reform will recommence, after the latest verdict of the Constitutional Court.
“Many of you, who are in this room and the other MPs that will join us in the future, will still try to find the ways and methods to try and keep the lists closed,” said Hajdari.
“And we’ll see the next deal…of Rama and Basha, if they’ll decided to meddle with the Constitution and take us back to April 21st 2008, but every one of their decisions after this verdict of the Constitutional Court will be shameful,” said Murrizi.
Off-camera, several MPs of the Democratic Party said for Euronews Albania that the decision, in fact, doesn’t imply the opening of the lists. Otherwise, the system would be a majoritarian one with a multiple-name-list.
One of the proposals that DP could bring forth is the determination of a unique threshold for each county. Therefore, the quotient would be estimated in relation to the votes and number of mandates in each county, and it would be the same for all parties.
Minister of the Parliament, Elisa Spiropali, extended a message from the ruling party, which was another appeal for collaboration directed at the opposition.
“I hope that the hot summer sun has serve to mature Basha and the others, so that in the next legislature, they can bring with them the courage to collaborate on the reforms, for the sake and in respect of our citizens,” stated Spiropali.
