“The Democratic Party has been seized by oligarchs and Lulzim Basha is a part of it”, said Edith Harxhi for Euronews Albania as she urged the Special Anti-Corruption and Organized Crime Structure, also known as SPAK, to open a probe into the matter.
“Today, the Democratic Party has been completely seized, not only by Basha, but oligarchs in general, and Basha is a part of that”, said the former candidate for the Democratic party’s leadership.
According to her, Basha introduced himself as a “Western-like leader”, but described his approach as reminiscent of Enver Hoxha, Albania’s communist dictator.
“The fact that you studied in the West doesn’t make you a Westerner, but the passion for politics and justice do. DP is jumping from one crisis to another because its leader continues to cleanse the party and this reminds of the times of dictator Hoxha”, she said.
Harxhi reiterated that she will continue to fight in order to preserve the spirit of free debates within the DP and confirmed to be running again in the upcoming leadership elections.
