Authorities confirm that the majority of the fires have been put down, while the situation remains problematic in Vlora and Kukes.

The defense ministry said the fire is spreading fast at “Maja e Runes”, a peak with an elevation of 1,837 meters above sea level near Kukes.

In Vlora, authorities report that the intensity of the fire is slowing down, but locals complain that the fire has caused severe damages in the surrounding villages.

In other parts of the country, the flames have been extinguished, including in Gjirokastra and the village of Gadurova near Mallakastra.

Authorities say that there is still an active outbreak in the village of Cukal near Shkodra, although reporting that the situation is under control.

High temperatures brought hundred of hectares to the ashes, requiring aid from the EU to extinguish the flames through air support.
