North Macedonia announces three days of national mourning over deadly hospital fire

The government of North Macedonia has announced three days of national mourning after the deadly hospital fire on Wednesday evening.

At least 14 people have died at the tragic incident that took place at a temporary hospital set up to treat patients with COVID-19.

So far, it is believed that 24 people were present at the moment the fire broke out, of which 8 were medical staff.

Authorities have confirmed 14 deaths, while the others were sent to the hospital of Skopje to be treated for burn injuries.

According to the Prosecution Office of North Macedonia, there is no medical staff among the deceased, while several people were taken in for questioning over the possible cause of the fire.
