Democratic Party chair, Lulzim Basha, has gathered his parliamentary group leadership, one day before the new Parliament is set to convene.

During the meeting, the polemics surrounding Sali Berisha will be the main topic of discussion.

Berisha and his immediate family were recently declared non-grata by the US Department of State, which was followed by US ambassador, Yuri Kim, making several appeals to have the former Albanian prime minister resign from political life, which would also include him giving up his parliamentary seat.

Euronews Albania journalist, Ardit Hoxha has reported that the party’s district leaders are also present in tonight’s meeting.

Former PM and DP’s historic leader, Sali Berisha has publically stated that he will “most definitely be in tomorrow’s plenum”, while adding that he will continue his legal battle in order to regain his dignity, following the non-grata designation by the US Department State.
