Former deputy minister of Rama’s 2nd-term cabinet, Elton Haxhi, spoke on Euronews Albania about what he called, the prime minister’s “unrealistic promises” to cut debt and taxes while increasing wages.

“Let him give us the missing piece; the element that’s missing from his equation to cut back on debt,’ – commented Haxhi, following Rama’s declaration during Wednesday’s plenum, that he will be making drastic cuts to the public debt.

According to Haxhi, tax cuts and cuts to the public debt don’t correspond. There’s a missing third element that would make these two promises attainable, and according to the former deputy minister, this approach is simply unrealistic.

During the presentation of his third-term government program, Rama vowed to increase the gross average monthly wage by a gradual 25% until the end of his 4-year term.

Accroding to Rama, this will be possible through the annual economic growth that he expects to be around 4.5% per year.
