How did MPs vote for Rama’s new government?

After a 20-hour long marathon session, Parliament approved the new government program and Cabinet, by 77 votes to 53 and 1 abstention.

In the official webpage of the Albanian Parliament, the full list of votes has now been published.

10 legislators didn’t participate in the vote, namely: Monika Kryemadhi, Sali Berisha, Vangjel Dule, Selaudin Jakupllari, Fatmir Mediu, Petrit Vasili, Erisa Xhixho, Flamur Noka, Nusret Avdulla and Shpetim Idrizi.

SMI’s representative in parliament, MP Agron Cela abstained.

The 77 votes in favor of the government’s Cabinet and four-year program came from the left-wing parties in Parliament: Rama’s Socialist Party and Tom Doshi’s Social-Democratic Party.

The plenum for the approval of the new government began at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday and ended in the early hours of Friday morning.

On Saturday, PM Edi Rama and his new cabinet of ministers will appear before president Ilir Meta in order to be officially sworn into office, for the upcoming 4-year mandate.
