‘Clara Bellini’s Unfinished Portrait’ wins best feature film at the Festival of Karlsruhe

The film ‘Unfinished Portrait of Clara Bellini’ directed by Namik Ajazi, with Ruzhdi Pulaha’s screenplay and Nino Celeste, as director of photography, won the Best Film Award, at the 21st edition of the Festival of Karlsruhe in Germany.

A 2019 Albanian-Italian co-production, produced by Mediavision and Mediterrania and supported by QKK, Euroimage and the Italian Ministry of Culture, the film includes a cast of some of the best actors from both countries like Remo Girone, Marta Gastini, Beatrice Aiello, Olta Daku, Guljem Radoja, Alfred Trebicka, Rajmonda Bulku etc.

‘The Unfinished Portrait of Clara Bellini’ brings to the big screen, the impossible loves story between an Albanian young man and the daughter of the Italian ambassador, serving in Albania during the communist regime. Their love story was the subject, that was intentionally chosen to bring back to life and recount some of the dramas experienced by the Albanian society during Hoxha’s dictatorship.

The 21st edition of the International Film Festival of Karlsrue, Independent Days, took place from September 21-25.

Out of 1200 films from 90 countries that were shown during the festival, the jury selected 140 full feature and short films – 8 of which were awarded a prize.
