This Monday marked the beginning of the new school year in Kosovo, that unlike last year will start with in-person classroom lessons.

According to the new government policy, classes will downsize by only allowing no more than 20 students per classroom.

Classes that will have more than 20 students will be divided into two groups and taught separately.

The new school year should have started since September 1, but it was postponed due to the heavy toll of the pandemic on the entire schooling system.

The minister of education, Arberie Nagavci, has announced that so far, 90% of the teaching staff has been vaccinated, 65% of whom have received both doses.

In addition, the minister of health, Arben Vitia alerted that frequent tests will be conducted on students and teachers on a regular basis.

Meanwhile, the Kosovo press are reporting that the organizers of protests in the northern parts of the country has decided to postpone the start of their new school year.
