The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen has started her trip in the region, with a visit to Tirana.
Von de Leyen was received in Tirana by PM Edi Rama with a state ceremony in the Palace of Brigades. After her meeting with president Meta, she will participate in the inauguration ceremony of the school and kindergarten ‘Korb Muca’ in Qereke, Kruja – project funded by the EU.
The EC representative will also conduct a joint press conference with PM Edi Rama.
Ursual von der Leyen’s visit to the region is taking place before EU’s meeting for the Western Balkans.
Through a post on her personal Twitter account, following her meeting with Rama, Von der Leyen stated that the future of Albania is in the EU.
“With good progress on justice reforms, Albania has clearly delivered. Now the EU should do too,” – wrote the president of the European Commission.
