Results of Macedonian census are in, 200 thousand fewer residents than in 2002

The highly-anticipated census conducted by the State Statistical Office in North Macedonia is finally complete and entries for the registration of the population were officially called off last night.

Conclusive results showed that a total of 1.832.696 citizens, 837.232 homes and 53.503 estates were registered.

In regards to the diaspora, a total of 204.803 Macedonians living abroad were registered in the process lasting 7 months.

The last census in North Macedonia took place back in 2002, and based on the official stats, the country has a population of around 2 million, 25% of whom are of Albanian heritage.

Compared to 2002, the country counts around 200 thousand fewer citizens.
