Denis is filling out forms and completing the last steps of his application for the second time this year, in hopes of winning the US Lottery and having a chance at acquiring the coveted American Green Card.
“It’s worth the sacrifice. I’m a business owner but I still want to leave. Most of my friends are already there, very few remains. The majority left 6-7 years ago and the ones that are still here, well, everyone is applying for the US lottery. America is the land of opportunity, it gives us opportunities we don’t have here,” – said Denis Zere, citizen.
Denis isn’t the only one who wants to follow his ‘American Dream’. For years now, the number of applicants from Albania has been on a continuous rise. In 2019, there were 172.817 applications, in 2020 there were 181.270 and in 2021, there have been 128.871 so far.
“Yes, I’ve filled it out because I want to move to America. I see my future in America. I don’t believe in the future here. I had hope once but I can see that things haven’t been going like I thought they would; I don’t see them moving on the right track any time soon,” – said another young applicant.
Applications for the American Lottery DV-2023 began on October 6 and will close on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.
