During a meeting of the Democratic Party’s presidency, Lulzim Basha called on holding the National Assembly on December 11, and accused Sali Berisha of trying to get the assembly together just “for personal interests”.
“For the past two months, Sali Berisha has continued an action which bears no relation to the party’s present nor future, with the need that Democrats, and the Albanian people, have to see the Democratic Party ruling the country. He has decided to impose his own personal problem with the United States as a problem of the DP”, declared Basha.
Former PM Berisha called to hold the National Assembly of the Democratic Party on December 11, something that Basha described as “more like a rally”, aimed at “getting a small fraction of the DP turned against our main strategic partner”.
The head of the DP added that Berisha might even “proclaim war against the US, if he so desires”, but dismissed chances of having two parallel structures within the Democratic Party.
“The DP cannot function with parallel structures. Only Vucic wants to have a parallel structure in Kosovo and Dodik in Bosnia”, said Basha.
According to him, Berisha is going against the United States, and in that case, he would refuse to cooperate with him.
DP’s leader noted that some well-known political actors from the Socialist Party have endorsed Berisha’s move as their main scope is to harm the opposition.
“Some people aim to become factors within the DP and continue their corruptive and criminal affairs with the Democratic Party as they have done, and still do, with the Rama’s Socialist Party. Some others that are awaiting a non-grata designation favor this clash in order to protect themselves”, Basha said.
Basha also vowed to prevent holding the National Assembly on December 11, as called for by Berisha, claiming that it only “serves Berisha’s problems”.
