‘Fishermen salaries at €660’, Rama: Workers from Turkey and Egypt are arriving

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama declared on Saturday that the minimum fishermen make in in Albania is 80,000 Albanian Lek, approximately €660.

While presenting the 2022 budget on fishing at the port of Durres, the head of the government underlined that the Albanian market needs more workers for the fishing industry, and that shortage is being filled with workers from Turkey and Egypt.

“All need workers for the fishing industry. They come from Turkey to work here in Albania, and from Egypt. While those with fake diplomas claim that there are no jobs”, said Rama.

He also stressed that fisheries are a key factor in North Europe, and pointed to a 239% rise in exports.
