German Ambassador to Tirana Peter Zingraf met on Tuesday with the leader of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha.
In a post shared on social media, the German Embassy informed that the meeting is in line with a “periodical exchange of information”.
Zingraf and Basha spoke over the reforms publicly endorsed by the opposition in parliament, namely electoral and territorial reforms, as well as the initiative on vetting politicians.
In addition, the head of the German delegation to Albania and the leader of the Democratic Party also discussed “DP’s internal institutions and its future programs”.
The meeting comes at a time when former prime minister Sali Berisha submitted 4,200 signatures required to convene the National Assembly and call for a meeting on December 11. On the other hand, Basha refused the date and instead called to hold the meeting on 18 December.
DP’s leader Lulzim Basha and the party‘s general secretary, Gazment Bardhi, claim to have not been able to verify the veracity of the forms submitted defying the legitimacy of Berisha’s call.
