Former PM Sali Berisha continued his ‘Pulpit’ tour today with a meeting in Tropoja, during which he expressed his criticism about the justice system, saying that it is captured by Edi Rama, who is only allowing for a one-sided vetting.
Berisha brought up the case of former Prosecutor General, Adriatik Llalla, calling it a ‘political sentencing’. In addition, he mentioned former Chair of the Justice Appointments Council, Ardian Dvorani, who according to Berisha should have gotten a 10-year-sentence for all he did while in office.
Berisha continued by saying that Dvorani had give out 9 verdicts in favor of a private company, thus damaging state agencies.
Moreover, he accused Dvorani of acquiring financial gains of up to ’17 thousand euros for a single apartment’.
The former DP chair continued his accusations on people close to the prime minister, including former Chief Justice at the High Court, Sokol Sadushi and his spouse, who he accused of corruption.
“They boast because they sentenced the former Prosecutor General to 2 years. But what I have to say to them is that it’s a political conviction. That gentleman was convicted because he denounced Ambassador Donald Lu at the American Senate. Ardian Dvorani, Sokol Sadushi, Judge Petra and many others should be sentenced to at least 8-10 years in prison. But their vetting case files are kept secret in Edi Rama’s safes,” – declared Berisha.
In regards to the recent developments at the Democratic Party, Berisha deemed his ‘Pulpit’ tour, a peaceful revolution that will ‘return true opposition to Albania’.
Berisha also warned of ‘great statutory changes’ at the National Convention of December 11, that will ‘aim to give DP members more power.”
“In the new statute, we will prioritize primaries. Elections within the party have to include all members. The candidatures for MP will be selected by our members. The one who has the greatest support will go on to be your MP – MPs will no longer be chosen by the leader or the leadership,” – said Berisha.
